Orders can be made directly on the website or with our Customer Service Team via chat or phone call. The inventory displayed on the website is up-to-date in real time. Inventory is immediately adjusted as orders are received. Your ship date is determined by seasonal minimums and a common hatch date of the breeds ordered. It is important to note that the inventory on the website for lives (chicks, ducks, eggs, etc) is an estimate based on historical data of our flocks, but can change at any time due to flock changes, mother nature, or other outside factors.
Payment is due when your order is placed. Meyer Hatchery accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express over the phone and on the website. Additional website payment methods include PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay. PayPal offers a few special payment options for those that qualify including PayPal Pay in 4 as well as PayPal Credit. Meyer Hatchery only accepts credit cards issued by US banks. Falling Star Farms, LLC is the legal entity of Meyer Hatchery and, therefore, shows up on bank statements, refunds, PayPal, etc.
You can also mail in your order with payment made by check, money order, or credit card. Personal check orders will be booked after verification of sufficient funds. Please allow additional processing time. Checks returned to us by your bank will result in a $40.00 non-sufficient funds fee. If reconciliation is not made within 15 days, your account will be turned over to our collection agency and other penalties and fees will be added.
Meyer Hatchery ships live poultry on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays depending on the poultry types ordered. All orders are shipped USPS Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express. Orders most commonly arrive in 2 days or less but can take up to 3. Your order should arrive no later than Saturday. Chicks are typically held at the post office and they will call you to pick them up. Please contact your local post office to determine how they handle packages of live animals or if alternative arrangements need to be made for delivery. Poultry must be picked up from the Post Office promptly. Orders that are not picked up within 8 hours of arrival at the Post Office, forfeit Meyer Hatchery’s 48-Hour Livability Policy. Additionally, due to their perishable nature, the Post Office reserves the right to rehome live poultry left at the Post Office overnight and no refund or reshipment will be available to you.
Hatching Egg orders are typically delivered with your regular mail to the address on the package. See more specific shipping details including rates.
Live poultry and hatching egg orders will be available for pick up at our retail store during the first 48 hours after hatch or being packed. NO EXCEPTIONS! If you do not pick up your order during the stated pick-up times, you forfeit the amount paid for the live poultry or hatching eggs due to their perishable nature. Pickup orders must be placed and paid for in advance. We are not able to accept payment at the time of pick up.
Started Pullets must be picked up on the date scheduled only. If you do not pick up your started pullets on your reserved day, your order will be canceled and a fee amount of $1.00 per bird or $20.00 minimum is kept. No exceptions.
As we are dealing with live animals, Meyer Hatchery is not able to cancel orders within 1 week of hatch. Should an emergency arise, please contact the Meyer Hatchery Customer Service Team. In the event of excessive cancellations, Meyer Hatchery reserves the right to request a $10.00 order cancellation fee.
Wholesale customers are not able to change or reduce their orders within 2 weeks of hatch.
Adjustments can be made to your order by contacting Meyer Hatchery Customer Service via call, chat, or email prior to your order going into "process." This means that orders cannot be changed on ship day, but could also mean that orders cannot be changed the week before your ship date. In the event of excessive changes, Meyer Hatchery reserves the right to request a $10.00 order change fee.
No returns. As we are dealing with live animals that are perishable in nature, as well as for biosecurity reasons, there are no return options available for any reason. We do offer the following policies on your order.
Meyer Hatchery strives for 100% accuracy when sexing our chicks. However, we are dealing with live animals and an error may occur. To cover those instances, Meyer Hatchery offers a 100% Gender Accuracy Policy effective for birds hatched:
Meyer Hatchery strives for 100% healthy chicks upon receipt. If you experience a loss or injured chick, Meyer Hatchery will issue a refund or offer a replacement for properly cared for losses within the first 48 hour period. A photograph may be requested.
Meyer Hatchery strives for 100% accuracy on your order, as well as chicks free from physical defects.
Meyer Hatchery often sends free extra chicks or eggs with your order, depending on availability and quantity ordered. The Meyer Meal Maker is a free extra chick you may opt-in to receive on eligible orders that is intended to be used as food for your local community. If you order layers, the meal maker will be a layer-type bird with which to donate the eggs. If you order a meat breed, the meal maker will be an additional meat bird so you can donate the meat. All free extras or meal makers are vaccinated free of charge if the original order is vaccinated. If Meyer Hatchery fails to include a free extra or a meal maker, there is no refund available to you since there was no initial charge for these chicks.
Occasionally, a breed may not hatch as well as expected. When placing an order, let us know if you would be willing to accept substitutions and what breeds. If a breed on your order does not hatch as expected, we will follow your substitution notes to modify your order. If you are not willing to accept substitutions, your order may be shipped short or rescheduled at our discretion. If there are no reschedule dates available for your order, we will cancel and issue you a prompt refund.
The Marek’s vaccination is an optional service that we offer on standard and bantam chickens. Meyer Hatchery recommends this service because the disease is easily spread. Exposed chickens will become infected with Marek's regardless of vaccination. Vaccination only gives chickens a chance to build resistance and reduces the instances of symptoms developing. There is no cure for the disease. Meyer Hatchery is not responsible for loss or damages due to Marek’s Disease, even if your chicks were vaccinated.
If you request the Marek’s Vaccination service and also order a Meyer Meal Maker, your Meyer Meal Maker will also be vaccinated. All free extras will be vaccinated as well.
Meyer Hatchery leg bands specific breeds of rare chicks for easy identification. This is not an optional service. Leg bands must be removed within 7 days. Meyer Hatchery is not responsible for any loss or damages caused by not removing these leg bands.
Hatching eggs are collected on Mondays and shipped on Tuesdays via USPS Priority Mail. Hatching egg orders are typically delivered to your address. Eggs can be shipped year-round, but please use your own discretion when ordering during extreme weather. Meyer Hatchery guarantees the eggs to be true to breed variety and to arrive in good condition; we do not guarantee hatchability due to conditions beyond our control during shipment, hatching equipment or methods used. Meyer Hatchery covers breakage only and will offer a one-time refund or replacement. Breakage must be reported upon arrival.
Hatching eggs are viable for 2 weeks after being laid. Extended ship times are not expected but may occur on occasion. If you experience such delays, incubate as normal. Meyer Hatchery does not offer credit for eggs that experience a delay in shipping unless they arrive beyond 5 days of being shipped.
Juvenile Poultry, such as Started Pullets, juvenile pheasants, and waterfowl, are guaranteed to be live on arrival or pickup only. We do not extend any further policies on quality or livability; only that they are the gender requested.
Meyer Hatchery is a member of the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP). Our NPIP status is U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean w/added classification -- H5/H7 AI Clean and Salmonella Monitored.
We provide NPIP VS Form 9-3 at no charge automatically after the order has shipped via email for all live shipments.
Merchandise ordered from Meyer Hatchery will be shipped within 48 business hours and should arrive to you within 5-7 business days, depending on the shipping method chosen at checkout. Should your merchandise be damaged or missing a part/piece, contact Meyer Hatchery Customer Service immediately. Shipping rates are by weight and will be calculated by the cart.
Some of our merchandise is shipped directly from the manufacturer. These items are notated on the website and will ship in 2-3 weeks.
Merchandise items may be returned within 30 days of purchase. Due to strict hatchery biosecurity, Items must be in original packaging and in unused condition. Returns must be authorized by Meyer Hatchery Customer Service. We can offer a refund or exchange on returned merchandise. Meyer Hatchery is not able to accept returns on digital items such as gift cards or coop plans, feed, or vaccines.
Meyer Hatchery offers subscriptions on common items such as chicken treats, feed, and supplements. To subscribe, simply click on "Subscribe" and then "Add to Bag" on any eligible product and proceed through checkout. You will be charged for your initial order with the item shipping out shortly after. As a subscription, a new order is automatically billed and shipped monthly until canceled. Vaccines are shipped in well-insulated packaging and an ice pack(s) may be included depending on the weather. Please make arrangements to be home when your vaccines arrive as they must be refrigerated immediately. Vaccines will remain cool for up to 24 hours even during the hot summer months. Ice packs may thaw during transit and this is not indicative of the temperature inside the cooler or the vaccine. After 24 hours, the package can warm up quickly, especially if sitting outside on a hot porch even for a couple of hours. Vaccines are shipped overnight on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays FedEx or UPS only. Meyer Hatchery is not responsible for carrier errors, weather, or delays. Meyer Hatchery will not accept returns or issue a refund or credit for vaccines for any reason.
