Effective with our 9/25 hatch: Lakeside Eggers received may be either a blue or black barred feathering.
If you liked the Lakeshore Egger, then you’re going to love Meyer Hatchery's new Lakeside Egger! A new hybrid, aptly named for the blue waters of the lakeside of Lake Erie, this exclusive from Meyer Hatchery will typically lay 4-5 blue eggs per week. The Lakeside Egger was designed for our customers wanting a hardy, clean-legged, and reliable blue egg layer. They will be crested, bearded, and have blue or black barred feathering. This hybrid has also been carefully selected to be non-broody.
This breed is a hybrid. Hybrids are created by crossing two different parents and will not breed true. Crosses are generally created for vigor and production qualities, but also for desired traits such as egg color or feather patterns. Meyer Hatchery does not disclose what breeds we use to create our designer breeds, as that is considered proprietary knowledge.
Adult bird size: hens 5 pounds; roosters 5.5 pounds.
Thank you to our customer Melissa for the beautiful picture of the Lakeside Egger Eggs!
