Vitamin E is important in poultry health for proper nerve function, reproductive health, and immunity. A deficiency in Vitamin E can cause lowered fertility, decreased immunity and “crazy chick disease” where the bird’s head is tucked down. Vitamin E can also help prevent nutritional Muscular Dystrophy in chickens, where the bird is unable to stand or walk due to muscle weakness. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin and overdose is possible, please use with caution. This information should not be interpreted as a diagnosis or treatment. Please seek the advice of your county Ag Extension office or veterinarian for proper diagnosis.
