Welsummer Bantam Day Old Chicks

Male chicks will come leg banded for easy identification IF ordered with the same breed female. Remove leg band within 7 days.

The Welsummer breed is an extremely rare breed of bantam chicken developed in Holland in the early 20th century. Their ancestry is traced back to a cross between Barnevelders and other native breeds. They are well known as the top free-range foragers of all the layers. The bantam Welsummer plumage is very similar in appearance to the black and brownish-red feathering of the standard Welsummer. A noticeable difference is that the bantam carries its tail at a more upright angle. Welsummer Bantams will lay around 2-4 mahogany eggs each week.

Average weight: hens 28 oz, roosters 32 oz.
