Black Australorps are one of our favorite producers of large brown eggs. One of their most notable qualities is their overall hardiness in all climates as well as their ability to consistently lay 4 to 6 eggs a week, especially in hotter and colder weather when other breeds may slow down in egg production. As a breed, Australorps are known for their overall utility. They mature early and tend to be a quiet and docile breed, which makes them relatively easy to handle, and a wonderful choice for beginners.
