Broad-Breasted Bronze Turkeys are fast-growing turkeys that produce ample amounts of meat, much like the Broad-Breasted White Turkeys. The feathers of the Broad-Breasted Bronze are dark with a metallic sheen and a whitish edging on the tail feathers, a coloration very similar to wild turkeys. Broad-Breasted Bronze Turkeys are the picture of the traditional Thanksgiving turkey bird. They are a very popular variety of turkeys for the small farm flock and commercial breeders alike.
Broad Breasted Bronze Turkeys are typically ready for processing at 16-22 weeks. Broad Breasted Turkeys are a special hybrid that we have fine-tuned over many generations specifically for fast growth rates for meat production. Because they are a hybrid, you cannot cross a male and female Broad Breasted Turkey and hatch out more Broad Breasted Turkeys. Additionally, for their own health and well-being, Broad Breasted Turkeys should not be kept beyond their processing age of 16-22 weeks.
Using the chart below, you are able to estimate purchase time based on the weight you would like to process your turkey at. Processed weight will be roughly 15 - 20% less than weights listed below. These weights are an estimate and are provided for your reference. Meyer Hatchery is not able to guarantee exact results due to conditions beyond our control. Broad Breasted turkeys have an excellent feed to meat conversion ratio.
