Named after Marans, France, the town that they were developed in, Marans lay 4-6 dark brown eggs per week. Named for their beautiful light coloring, as you would see in a wheat field, Wheaten Marans are single combed and have feathered legs. Like most other Marans, Wheaten Marans are a very cold hardy bird and are a wonderful choice for a dual-purpose bird.
