Barnevelders are a medium to heavy breed known for their striking coloration and production of large dark brown eggs. They are a dual-purpose breed that originated in Holland almost 200 years ago by mixing imported Asian fowl with local Dutch birds. The Silver Double Laced Barnevelders are most known for their striking doubled-laced feather pattern and are a great choice for any poultry fancier because of their sweet and docile dispositions, great egg production, and full, meaty bodies when processed. Barenevelders hens lay 3-5 dark brown eggs per week and are a hardy bird that is easy to keep and raise.
Average mature weight: Roosters 7 lbs., Hens 6 lbs.
