Royal Palm turkeys are a strikingly attractive, small-sized turkey variety. While they can be used for meat, Royal Palms have been bred mostly for ornamental purposes. They are not cut out for the commercial industry but will do quite well on a small farm serving as a family dinner or assisting with insect control.
Royal Palms are white with a sharply contrasting, metallic black edging on the feathers. Their tail is white, with each feather crossed by a band of black. They are known for being active foragers and good flyers.
Heritage breed turkeys do have a longer grow out period than your Broad Breasted varieties and are typically processed at 24 to 28 weeks.
