Meyer Hatchery Exclusive! Our Sage Gems are pint-sized producers that have a wide variety of feathering appearance, similar to our Easter Egger bantams but have been bred to produce small sage green, olive and brown earth-tone colored eggs to add some variety in your nest box. Chicks may or may not be crested, or have beards and muffs around the face, and may have feathered legs. Sage Gems will lay around 4-6 eggs per week.
This breed is a hybrid. Hybrids are created by crossing two different parents and will not breed true. Crosses are generally created for vigor and production qualities, but also for desired traits such as egg color or feather patterns. Meyer Hatchery does not disclose what breeds we use to create our designer breeds as that is considered proprietary knowledge.
