The Pilgrim Goose is a recently developed breed originating in the USA. As the name implies many people think they were brought to America by early settlers, but that is not the case. They were given their name by a breeder, whose wife named them after their family’s pilgrimage to Missouri during the great depression. This is the only auto-sexing goose variety, meaning the male and the female are easily distinguishable from hatch. Pilgrim geese are the easiest going of all goose breeds and make great backyard pets. Males are white with patches of gray on the wings and tail and have bluish-gray eyes. Females are a light gray with a bit of white under their belly and lacing throughout their plumage, and have hazel brown eyes.
