The Chocolate Orpington is another gorgeous color in the Orpington collection. Not unlike the Buff, Lavender, Jubilee, or Blue, the Chocolate Orpington is a beautiful heavyweight with a friendly temperament and a motherly nature. Because of their sweet and gentle disposition, Orpingtons make great pets. Single combed, with rich dark feathers, the females will produce 3-5 creamy brown eggs per week. Meyer Hatchery's Chocolate Orpingtons are a blend of American and English strains.
Orpington Chickens were developed by William Cook in the 1800s and named after his hometown, Orpington, England. Orpington Chickens are considered a sustainable heritage breed. Read more about the Orpington Chicken on our Breed Spotlight over on the Meyer Hatchery Blog.
