Are you looking for a hardy, purebred green egg layer? Look no further! The Silverudd's Blue (BBS) Day Old Chick are not only hardy, but this Swedish breed is also an active forager and rarely goes broody. They are dual-purpose and tend to thrive in difficult, cold climates. You can expect 200-250 large green eggs per year, and some may even be speckled. Silverrudd Blue chicks are known to be friendly and intelligent birds that would make a wonderful addition to any backyard flock or homestead. They usually mix well with existing flocks and tend to get along with other breeds. The breed was developed for utility reasons, so variations exist, but you can expect clean legs, red earlobes, and a straight single comb. Hens will be mostly solid in color with some possible small amounts of silver or gold in the hackle feathers. Roosters, being more colorful, may have more silver or gold accents in the saddle, hackle, and wings.
The color blue does not breed true. The chicks hatched from blue parents can be blue, black, or splash. You will receive hatchery choice when ordering. Read more about blue genetics in our Help Desk Article.
