White Muscovy Day Old Ducklings
IMPORTANT ORDERING DETAILS: Waterfowl have a minimum of 3 and you are able to mix and match among ducks and goose breeds to meet this minimum. Waterfowl will ship on Tuesday or Wednesday, USPS priority mail, and arrive 1-3 days later. Waterfowl are not able to be picked up as they are sent from our hatching partner. Sorry, we are not able to ship Muscovy's to the states of North Dakota or Florida due to local fish and game regulations.
You will be hard-pressed to find a better homesteading breed of duck than that of the Muscovy. Muscovy ducks are known for their calm and friendly disposition as well as the distinct caruncles, the red fleshy mask, on their face. They are “quiet” meaning that they do not quack like other breeds of ducks which can be helpful when needing to keep the neighbors happy. All domestic ducks are related to the Mallard with the exception of Muscovy's.
Muscovy's are excellent at keeping down flies and mosquitoes on the homestead. They are known to roost in trees instead of on the ground like other ducks, which can help protect them from predators at night.
When it comes to egg laying, they start laying around 6 months old and will lay 100-150 large white eggs in their season. They are amazing mothers, but their eggs do take approximately 35 days to hatch as compared to the 28 days of other duck varieties.
Muscovy are frequently used for meat as it is 98% fat free, making them the leanest of the duck breeds. Ducklings have the potential to grow to 12 lbs in just 12 weeks. Mature weight on males average about 15-lbs while the females will be about 8-lbs, making them an excellent option for a sustainable homestead!
When receiving shipped Muscovy Ducks, please exercise caution with the amount of water they are allowed to drink upon arrival. Allow then to drink for about 15 minutes, then remove their water for about 15 minutes. Repeat this 3-4 times before giving them full access to drinking water. They are shipped with a double batch of grogel to help keep them hydrated during shipping.
